No one could seriously dispute that Manchester City were one of the finest teams ever seen in league history; scoring 93 goals while only conceding 29 all season long.
No doubt there are plenty of partisans who may disagree with me here, but even taking aside tribal allegiances it’s hard to argue with a team which went the entire season unbeaten.
Manchester City
Manchester City’s defeat of Real Madrid in Wednesday’s Champions League semifinal second leg seemed almost inevitable as crowds at Etihad Stadium went wild, players celebrated triumphantly and manager Pep Guardiola seemed visibly relieved of pressure.
No one could deny City’s meteoric rise since February when they dispatched Arsenal 3-0 at home and two months later destroyed them again at Etihad Stadium with devastating force, becoming one of football’s dominant teams and breaking every record they could possibly claim as they have become, at every level, one of England’s finest sides in English football history.
But such dominance comes with its own set of complications: Chelsea still face over 100 charges of breaching Premier League rules dating back over a decade; until these are settled, their success may always be scrutinised by rival fans and media alike.
Manchester United
Manchester United’s second EPL title-winning team enjoyed one of the most dominant seasons ever seen in modern football, losing only four league games while scoring an amazing 97 goals – led by Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole’s impressive scoring, as well as Eric Cantona who netted 18 times and earned himself the PFA Player of the Year award.
Fergie’s side remains the world’s most beloved club worldwide, including China and Africa. What might come as a shock, however, is Sheffield United being second despite having less than half as many online searches in the UK than Manchester United do – testament to Chris Wilder’s great work at Bramall Lane; perhaps their popularity would rise further if they qualified for Europe? Let’s hope so.

Chelsea
Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, and Roberto Firmino proved too powerful for Chelsea to overcome in the end; nonetheless this remains one of England’s greatest Premier League sides ever seen!
After Roman Abramovich took control, Chelsea Football Club quickly transformed into Britain’s first mega-rich football outfit and signed players such as Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard. Additionally, they invested heavily in youth scouting systems which led to improved performances on the pitch.
However, Cobham experienced substantial off-field difficulties due to sanctions placed upon Abramovich’s assets in 2021-22. This caused massive disruption within the club with many staff leaving including Chairman Bruce Buck and Petr Cech – leading them all out into retirement paving way for Tuchel to arrive and rebuild his team, ultimately leading the club into Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup success.

Tottenham
Assuming allegiances aside (which would be impossible for any true football fan), Tottenham stands out as an outstanding team. Under new manager Ange Postecoglou they had an incredible start to their Premier League season, winning six and drawing two out of eight matches, outshone North London rival Arsenal, and had an improved goal difference than Manchester City.
Although early days, this Spurs squad appears to have a real shot at winning the title. To do so they must avoid injury to star player Harry Kane; should he sustain another setback then they could find themselves in trouble; unfortunately this club has long suffered from not possessing enough quality depth.
